Since the commencement of the first-phase construction of Pingyuan Ancient Town, significant economic and social benefits have been achieved. The project has improved Zijing’s ecological environment, transforming the formerly dirty, chaotic, and rundown shantytown areas into an eco-friendly tourist destination that is both livable and attractive to visitors. It has also enhanced tourism infrastructure, diversified tourism offerings, and initially established Zijing as a major tourism hub in central and western Guizhou Province. This has spurred the “explosive” growth of Zijing’s cultural and tourism industry and promoted high-quality development of Guizhou’s broader tourism sector. During the trial operation period, the project has not only yielded positive social and economic outcomes but has also earned numerous accolades.
