Pingyuan Ancient Town Development Strategy
In terms of operational strategy, the Pingyuan Ancient Town project adheres to the principles of “platformization, differentiation, and localization.” By focusing on IP-driven scenario development, leveraging a new-media matrix for dissemination, establishing robust cultural and tourism event operation mechanisms, and fostering interactive links within the industrial chain, we are bringing in professional brands that mutually empower and propel each other’s growth. Currently, over 90% of the commercial tenants in Phase I have already moved in, and many more businesses are actively vying to join Pingyuan Ancient Town. This gives us even greater confidence in the project’s future operations. The synergy among cultural tourism, commerce, agriculture, and intangible cultural heritage industries is creating a collaborative driving effect across the entire value chain. Leveraging the unique advantages of Zhijin, Bijie, and Guizhou, we are enriching our tourism resources and developing a multi-dimensional, in-depth product lineup. Combined with a variety of engaging offline activities and online traffic generation efforts, we are deeply tapping into Pingyuan Ancient Town’s role as a cultural and tourism hub and distribution center—and have already achieved initial positive results.

Currently, Pingyuan Ancient Town’s “Xiangchou Commercial” district is positioned around the theme of nostalgic commerce. It has already welcomed a diverse array of Guizhou-based brands, including Long Dage Spicy Chicken and Sour Soup Fish—a renowned Guizhou culinary brand; Lu Er Ye Hot Pot, a Chongqing-based hot pot specialty; Tian Nian Zhuang Pig Rice, a local specialty from Zhijin; as well as numerous other Guizhou and Zhijin特色 brands such as Qingyi Wine Bar, Agricultural Products Exhibition Hall, Nan Sheng Jiu Ge Hanfu Boutique, Xiang Tian Milk Tea, Bawang Chaji Milk Tea, Fuyuan Teahouse, and Long Mei Snacks—thus forming an exceptionally strong brand ecosystem.
In addition, under the development strategy of “Tourism + Multiple Industries,” Pingyuan Ancient Town aims to deepen the development of high-quality tourist attractions and premium tourism products by fostering multi-industry growth through models such as “Culture & Tourism + Commerce,” “Culture & Tourism + Agriculture,” “Culture & Tourism + Intangible Cultural Heritage,” and “Culture & Tourism + Art.” This approach will create synergistic effects across the entire industrial chain. Leveraging the abundant tourism resources of Zhijin, Bijie, and Guizhou—regions known for their unique advantages—Pingyuan Ancient Town is building a multi-dimensional and in-depth product portfolio. By combining rich offline activities with online traffic generation, it is fully tapping into its potential as a “cultural and tourism hub and distribution center,” and has already achieved initial success.
Guizhou is now a leading hub for leisure and tourism nationwide. Bijie and Zhijin, as scenic tourist destinations along Guizhou’s tourism routes—such as the nationally renowned Zhijin Cave, the widely acclaimed Baili Rhododendron Scenic Area, and the uniquely rich and picturesque Baili Gallery of the Wujiang River—are each offering distinctive tourism and vacation experiences. However, it must also be frankly acknowledged that Guizhou’s tourism sector urgently needs to move beyond its current reliance on transit tourism, day trips, and sightseeing tours.
What Pingyun Ancient Town aims to focus on building is, on the one hand, creating vacation stay durations through content development—thereby maximizing the economic benefits of these stays. As mentioned earlier, the creation of distinctive ethnic cultural and traditional Chinese learning content is precisely geared toward this goal.
On the other hand, we aim to integrate Pingyuan Ancient Town into Guizhou’s province-wide tourism network. First, by collaborating with well-known scenic spots such as Guiyang, Baili Rhododendron, and Huangguoshu Waterfall, we’ll create three “Golden Routes”—the “Gui-Jin Route,” the “Bai-Jin Route,” and the “Huang-Jin Route.” This will fully leverage the brand influence of Zhijin Cave, designing uniquely distinctive and highly competitive tour itineraries that will become a new driving force and signature product for Guizhou’s province-wide tourism. In doing so, we’ll not only empower Pingyuan Ancient Town through Guizhou’s tourism offerings but also enable Pingyuan Ancient Town to contribute its own strengths to Guizhou’s broader tourism ecosystem.
At this stage, only a smaller portion of Pingyuan Ancient Town has been unveiled to the public. In the overall development plan, Pingyuan Ancient Town will also be further expanded into the Wuzhifeng area, which will include a forest park, the Shenchong Wildman Valley ecological zone, the Houchong Wild Nutrition Zone, an eco-agricultural experience zone, the Shenxian Cave scenic area, the Lianhua Cave scenic area, and a mysterious cave exploration zone.
In the future, Pingyuan Ancient Town will adopt a macroscopic development perspective and integrate itself into Guizhou’s broader tourism development strategy. By meticulously crafting high-quality products, deeply cultivating its inherent strengths, inheriting cultural heritage without being confined by tradition, preserving the ancient while avoiding being trapped by its very antiquity, and daring to break new ground and forge innovative paths, Pingyuan Ancient Town will play a pivotal role in enhancing Qijin County’s tourism service capabilities, elevating its status as a premier tourist destination, preserving and promoting Qijin County’s local culture, driving regional economic growth, enhancing the city’s image and appeal, boosting the prosperity of the regional tourism market, alleviating employment challenges and improving people’s livelihoods, and fostering harmonious social development. Moreover, Pingyuan Ancient Town’s successful construction and operation will exert significant positive impacts across a wide range of areas, including the improvement of the urban ecological environment, the strengthening and refinement of urban infrastructure, the promotion of urban construction and economic development, the creation of favorable conditions for tourism, the establishment of distinctive cultural brands, the restructuring of the urban economy, and the stimulation of local tax revenue growth—yielding comprehensive social benefits.
